Eight papers in CA Intermediate are divided into two groups based on the paper format. Students will have three hours to finish the paper, and there will be both objective and subjective question types. There are 100 marks on each paper. Thus, 800 marks total are required to pass the CA Intermediate exam.
Students must receive passing scores of at least 40% on each paper and 50% overall to pass the exams. Additionally, there are no failing grades for the CA Intermediate exams. The tests are given twice a year, in offline format, in May and November.

In CA Intermediate, 4 papers have practical or MCQ-based questions. These papers are

Passing Marks for the CA Intermediate Exams
As per the passing criteria for the Intermediate exams, students need to get at least 40% on each paper and an aggregate of 50% in a group. Therefore, the passing mark for each CA Intermediate paper is at least 40 marks, and for a group is at least 200 marks.
So, if a student has given the papers of both groups but he got more than 50% aggregate in only 1 group, then he will be declared pass in that group only. He has to give the papers to the remaining group.
For Direct Entry Candidates-Training Sessions,
Three training processes are essential to be taken by candidates that come through the direct entry and enroll for the course of CA. To finally get registered for the Final program of CA a candidate must pass CA Intermediate in both groups and all three training requisites must be completed. Training requisites that are mandatory are as follows:-
- After 6 months(earlier 9 months) of completion of practical training, a candidate can appear for the exams of CA Intermediate.
- Before the articles, one must complete the integrated course of four weeks on soft skills and information technology. It should also comprise courses like the OC(Orientation Course) and the Information Technology(IT) Course.
- For practical training of three years, registration must be done.
